Onder metallische glazen verstaat men legeringen die men in amorfe, vaste vorm kan verkrijgen door ze vanuit de gesmolten toestand zeer snel af te koelen. In dit artikel wordt, na een beschouwing van de kinetische en thermodynamische achtergronden van de glasvorming, kort op de structuur en enkele fysische eigenschappen van metallische glazen ingegaan.
