Om slijtage aan machine-onderdelen en gereedschappen te verminderen, wordt in toenemende mate gebruik gemaakt van harde, slijtvaste lagen. Deze lagen kunnen op verschillende manieren worden aangebracht, en hebben ieder hun specifieke eigenschappen. Slijtageproblemen spelen niet alleen in de automobielindustrie, maar ook in de elektronische industrie, waar miljarden componenten per jaar worden gefabriceerd. We zullen hierbij drie technieken beknopt behandelen: - CVD – Chemical Vapour Deposition; - PVD – Physical Vapour Deposition; - TS -Thermal Spraying (“vlamen plasmaspuiten”).
