Utrechtse open torentelescoop

De Dutch Open Telescope (DOT) is een nieuw type telescoop voor sterrenkundige waarnemingen met een hoog hoekoplossend vermogen zowel ‘s nachts als overdag. Elementair en revolutionair is dat de telescoop niet staat opgesteld in een koepelvormig gebouw; hij bestaat uit een open torenconstructie van 15 m met daarop een – eveneens open – telescoop.Hierdoor wordt gegarandeerd dat de lucht vrij door het instrument kan stromen.
