Polarisatie van kleine halfgeleiderlasers

Uiterst kleine halfgeleiderlasers (vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers) worden steeds vaker gebruikt voor allerlei toepassingen in optische communicatie, laserprinters en optische dataopslag. Vanuit wetenschappelijk oogpunt zijn met name de polarisatie eigenschappen van de lasertjes interessant. Het blijkt dat de polarisatie dominant bepaald wordt door de lineaire anisotropie: dubbele breking en dichroisme. De invloed van de niet-lineaire anisotropie is echter ook meetbaar.
