Kennis is macht. Dat geldt in het bijzonder voor kennis van micro-electronica. Want met micro-elektronica krijgen producten vaak juist die meerwaarde die noodzakelijk is om ze te maken tot een concurrerende speler op de Europese markt. En misschien zelfs wel op de wereldmarkt, de “globale village” in hedendaags jargon. Bij kleine of middelgrote bedrijven ontbreekt meestal de kennis en het kapitaal om micro-elektronica te introduceren in van oorsprong mechanische producten. Maar gelukkig kan het Nederlandse bedrijfsleven aankloppen bij het Centrum voor Micro-Electronica in Veenendaal.
