Magneto-optische video-discrecorder is geen fictie meer

Vorig jaar presenteerden de ontwikkellaboratoria van Thomson een prototype audio-discrecorder gebaseerd op het magneto-optische principe. Deze discrecorder kan CDs weergeven en daarnaast digitaal geluid opnemen door MO-discs te wissen en te beschrijven. Op basis van de reeds voor de CD-s ontwikkelen van een video-discrecorder tot consumentenprodukt binnen de realiseerbare mogelijkheden.
