De warmtehuishouding van kleine onderdelen als weerstanden en condensatoren tijdens het zacht-solderen kan wetenschappelijk gesproken weinig nieuws opleveren. Toch is een overzichtelijke behandling ervan, zoals dit artikel het geeft, wel van praktisch belang. Het vergaand geautomatiseerd solderen in de moderne massaproduktie heeft natuurlijk alleen zin wanneer de betrouwbaarheid ervan vaststaat en de toegepaste verwarming geen noemenswaardig functieverlies van onderdelen veroorzaakt.
