Configurable Slit Unit voor Canarische telescoop

Op het Canarische Eiland La Palma is op dit moment ’s werelds grootste spiegeltelescoop in aanbouw, de ‘Grand Telescopio de Canarias’ (GTC) met een diameter van 10,4 meter. Janssen Precision Engineering is betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van instrumentatie voor de GTC. Afgelopen twee jaar is gewerkt aan de ontwikkeling van een specifiek en uiterst compact aandrijf- en meetsysteem voor cryogene en vacuümtoepassingen. Uiteindelijk heeft dit geleid tot de realisatie van een demonstratiemodel voor de Configurable Slit Unit voor het infraroodinstrument van de GTC.
