De eisen die aan precisie-instrumenten worden gesteld nemen steeds maar toe.Ook het aanbod aan constructiematerialen blijft groeien; denk aan kunststoffen of keramische materialen. Deze materialen bieden nieuwe mogelijkheden qua ontwerp en realisatie.Toch zien we dat aluminium voortdurend wordt gekozen als het meest geschikte materiaal voor nieuwe instrumenten. Kennelijk heeft aluminium dermate sterke papieren dat het nog van geen wijken weet. Op het hoe en waarom gaat dit artikel in. Tevens zal een blik in de toekomst worden geworpen, met de vraag of het ook zo zal blijven.
