The September 2021 issue of Mikroniek features the theme of (bio)medical precision. The cover story presents the bio-inspired design of a self-propelling and steerable needle for potential applications in drug delivery and biopsy. Other contributions include stent analysis, design principles for a CT scanner’s collimator at 35 g, and biomechatronics technology embodied in an exoskeleton that enables dynamic walking for people with paraplegia. Another article presents a new hysteresis modelling approach that allows for a straightforward feedforward controller that can be manually tuned, for application in piezo-stepper actuation. In addition, there are event reports and an event preview are presented, featuring the DSPE “Precision Engineering in Vacuum” Knowledge Day and euspen’s Virtual International Conference 2021, and the DeburringEXPO 2021, respectively.
