The October issue of Mikroniek, click here for a first impression, features the theme of Big Science. It covers projects like Virgo (gravitational-wave detection), the James Webb Space Telescope (the Hubble successor) and the European Extremely Large Telescope. ‘Off-theme’ topics include a micro frequency-quadrupler transmission mechanism for a watch, micro-optofluidics and hexapods.

The six nominees for the Wim van der Hoek Award 2018 are presented.

The preview of the Precision Fair 2018 features general info, including the Big Science conference programme, and a selection of innovations on display. The exhibitor list, with DSPE members among them highlighted, and the floor plan are also included.
