Mikroniek February 2026: High-Tech Systems

The February issue of Mikroniek is devoted to the theme of High-Tech Systems. The main theme article promotes understanding of datums as one of the most important concepts in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Next, the layered V-model is introduced as a conceptual framework that separates governance, design logic, and iteration, to resolve one of the biggest issues of the classical V-model, i.e., equivocality. Other theme articles feature a sensor for picometer-scale positioning in vacuum, and intent-driven design for additive manufacturing. Also included a philosophical take on precision engineering design, featuring a historical view on determinism. Click here for a first impression. (Cover image courtesy of cosine)

As technology reaches the atomic and quantum scale, sub-nanometer motion control is no longer optional – it is a necessity, often in vacuum environments where even the smallest disturbances are effectively suppressed.
