The April issue of Mikroniek, click here for a first impression, is to a large extent devoted to the theme of (soft) robotics. The robot designs described include a surgical robot for removing bone, a smart robot companion for kids, and a robot-arm mechanism. Two articles feature the potential of the twisted string actuator as a transmission principle for robotic devices. The deployment of robots in manufacturing and logistics is also covered. Other contributions include magnetic vibration isolation and reports of various events, including, ZIE-2017, High-Tech Systems 2017 and the Demoweek 2017.
