MCG & MSKE: mechatronics knowledge networks connected to DSPE

As a knowledge‑sharing platform for the precision‑engineering community in the Netherlands, DSPE maintains strong ties with key networks in the mechatronics field.

Two of the most prominent are MCG and MSKE – independent, invitation‑only groups that bring together mechatronic engineers from across the Dutch high‑tech industry. Both groups originated more than 20 years ago in the Philips engineering environment – MCG internally and MSKE externally – and have since grown to represent the broader Dutch mechatronics ecosystem. Although they have naturally converged over time, they deliberately remain separate to keep group sizes effective and interactions meaningful.

Commitment and knowledge exchange

Membership of MCG and MSKE is personal and by invitation. Participants are expected to contribute actively by attending meetings, sharing expertise, and hosting sessions at their own companies. These gatherings, as well as the informal connections they foster, offer valuable opportunities for networking and in‑depth technical exchange.

MCG – Mechatronics Contact Group

  • Members: ~50
  • Companies represented: ~20
  • Activities: Two full‑day company visits per year featuring presentations and live demonstrations of mechatronic innovations.
  • Contact: Richard van de Sande – Richard.van.de.Sande@asml.com

MSKE – Mechatronic System Knowledge Exchange

  • Members: ~40
  • Companies represented: ~30
  • Activities: Three contact days per year, each hosted by a member company and focused on its technical activities and system‑level insights.
  • Contact: Richard van Lieshout – Richard@inspirich.nl

Collaboration with DSPE

MCG and MSKE have long-standing links with DSPE. Since Philips concluded its own biennial mechatronics conference, both groups have joined DSPE as co‑organizers of the DSPE Conference on Precision Mechatronics, underscoring their shared commitment to strengthening the Dutch mechatronics community.
