A community for Systems Engineering

Together with Brainport Development DSPE brings engineers, researchers, and companies — including those active in the semiconductor and mechatronics sectors — who develop ultra-precise technologies and high-tech systems together.

Within this community and the broader innovation ecosystem, systems engineering is recognized as a core competence that drives innovation and enables organizations to collaboratively tackle complex technical challenges and advance cutting-edge system development.

Brainport Development

Through this platform hosted by Brainport Development, you can easily discover relevant events, conferences, and networking opportunities focused on systems engineering. In addition, the website provides a clear overview of available courses and training programs, enabling both experienced professionals and newcomers to further develop their skills and stay up to date with the latest methodologies and innovations.

Systems Engineering is a major ingredient for the design approach of complex high tch systems. Especially in large engineering teams profound Systems Engineering is unavoidable, but smaller teams profit from it as well. In the Netherlands, Systems Engineering was introduced by Philips halfway the 20st century. Nowadays the large OEMs in the region have Systems Engineering methods based on the approach of Philips, however much improved. The whole Supply Chain of these OEMs use this method as well, making it a unique working method of the Dutch eco-system. The Next-Gen Systems Engineering program aims to further improve the collaboration of our engineers regarding Systems Engineering.

Core Aspects and Principles

  • Systems Thinking: Viewing a project as a whole, rather than just individual parts, to avoid suboptimization.
  • Lifecycle Management: Covering all phases from initial concept and design to testing, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Interdisciplinary: Blending various fields like mechanics, electronics, software, and industrial engineering to ensure successful realization of a project.
  • Requirements & Boundaries: Defining customer needs and setting boundaries to differentiate the system from its operating environment.

Common Industries
Systems engineering is essential in industries with high complexity, such as aerospace, defense, automotive, manufacturing, and telecommunications.
