Asferische optiek – waarom vereist en hoe vervaardigd

Wat is asferische optiek? Normaal zijn alle brekende of spiegelende vlakken in optische systemen bolvormig of vlak; men spreekt dan van sferische optiek. Daartegenover staat de optiek met ‘asferische’ (niet-sferische) vlakken. De optiekkonstrukteurs zouden het liefst slechts asferische optiek toepassen; maar asferische optiek is dan slechts goedkoop te vervaardigen indien een geringe precisie wordt vereist (bijv. kondensoroptiek). Bij hoge precisie (bijv. astronomische teleskopen) is zij belangrijk duurder dan als sferische optiek. Waarom de optiekkonstrukteurs asferische Produkten willen, waarom deze duurder zijn dan sferische Produkten en wat er wordt gedaan om asferische optiek ook in apparatenoptiek en in fotografische objectieven voor amateursgebruik te kunnen toepassen, zal, in de volgende bijdrage worden besproken.
