15.10 Career Thoughts and Experiences in Precision Engineering by John S. Taylor
Consultant & Adjunct Professor University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA
John is adjunct professor at the Center of Precision Metrology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for almost 4 years
now.
He worked for more than 32 years as precision engineer and group leader for Precision Systems and Manufacturing for the well-known Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
He was also optics group leader during the design, construction, and validation of the first full-field diffraction-limited EUV projection optics in support of chip makers. He later became program leader over LLNL’s EUV and x-ray optics projects. His technical roles also span early diamond turning development, optics fabrication, and fabricating targets for LLNL’s National Ignition Facility.
In 2014 he was President of the American Society for Precision Engineering.
On September 6 John will give us an impression of his career and struggles in his impressive technical career of precision engineering. He will include some philosophical thoughts on determinism and reflect on some advice to students and young employees.
