About this event

Development of the SPEXone spectropolarimeter instrument, the Dutch contribution to the NASA PACE satellite observatory

By Alexander Eigenraam, senior mechanical design engineer at SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research

SPEXone is a satellite instrument that will measure the characteristics of aerosols (“fijnstof” in Dutch) in the earth’s atmosphere with unparalleled accuracy for the purpose of climate and air quality research.

SPEXone is developed by a consortium consisting of SRON and Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands, supported by TNO. It is the Dutch contribution to the NASA Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud and ocean Ecosystem (PACE) observatory, to be launched mid-2023.

In this lunch lecture the development of SPEXone will be addressed from a precision engineering point of view, including the design and production of the telescope, spectrometer and polarization modulation optics modules, as well as the integration and testing of the instrument.

We will start at 12:03pm and we will end at 12:30pm. After the presentation there is a moment for questions.

Please send an email to info@dspe.nl if you are interested.
