EVENT 10 March 2025

Lunch lecture April hosted by Nobleo Technology

The title is: How to deal with eddy current dampers

About this event

Speaker: Max van Lith (Mechanical Engineer at Nobleo Technology)

A case is presented where an eddy current damper (ECD) is designed and tested on a functional model. Modeling ECD’s using analytical methods offers limited accuracy. Full 3D FEM simulations are often too complex and time consuming in an initial design phase. The presented modeling approach is a middle ground between the two, using 2D simulations through FEMM and the OctaveFEMM toolbox. Modal analyses on the functional model indicate that the approach is useable in an early design phase.

Every first monday of the month DSPE organizes for their members a lunch lecture. Each time there is a different topic that a speaker is going to talk about.

We start after the sirens at 12:02pm. Questions can be asked after the 25 minutes presentation. If you want to keep informed about these lunch lectures please send an email to info@dspe.nl

As technology reaches the atomic and quantum scale, sub-nanometer motion control is no longer optional – it is a necessity, often in vacuum environments where even the smallest disturbances are effectively suppressed.
