DSPE Knowledgeday

Cryogenic Solutions: Innovation at Extreme Temperatures

About this event

On March 18th we are organizing a knowledgeday about increasing knowledge of materials and constructions for Cryogenic conditions for the members of the DSPE. The program will combine technical presentations with real-world case studies, offering a clear overview of how cryogenic solutions are applied across industries such as high-tech systems, medical technology, research, and advanced manufacturing. Experienced speakers from industry and academia will share their knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices.

13:30 Doors Open
14:00 Welcome by Koen Salden (Cazimir Institute) and Frank Molster (LIS)
14:15 Prof. Srinivas Vanapalli (University of Twente, Applied Physics) Title: The Dutch Cryogenic Landscape for High-Tech systems
14:45 Henk van Meers (SRON) Title: The XIFU thermal insulating detector suspension. Space applications, cryogenic instrumentation
15:15 Break
15:30 Maurice Teuwen (Jansen Precision Engineering) Title: Challenging the Laws of Physics, Precision engineering and mechatronics solutions that create motion in ultra-low-temperature environments.
16:00 Prof. Tjerk Oosterkamp (Leiden University, Experimental Physics) Title: Thermal conduction through material interfaces in cryo conditions
16:30 Short tour of the LIS by Frank Molster
17:00 Drinks
18:00 End of program

Location: Leidse Instrumentmaker School (Lis) Einsteinweg 61 2333 CC Leiden The Netherlands
