The summer issue of Mikroniek, click here for a first impression, is devoted to the theme of Cooling & Cryogenics. Theme articles include cryogenic magnet technology for high-field MRI, and the design of an efficient micro-cooler with a low form factor and high mechanical and thermal stability, for life-sciences microscopy. Off-theme, the design of a ‘dancer’ for in-line interferometry for precision in roll-to-roll production is presented.
On July 7, Mikrocentrum will open its doors at its location in Veldhoven together with DSPE from 15:30 to 18:00 for the second edition of the Techcafé. Our host Maart Roos will talk to a number of experts to zoom in on systems engineering. What is system engineering and why will it only become important for the entire manufacturing industry in the coming years. These questions and more will be covered,
Who will you recommend for the Wim van der Hoek award 2022?
We are requesting technical universities and colleges in the Netherlands and Flanders to submit their students’ graduation reports before 9 September. An expert jury assesses the reports and selects the nominees from them; In the evening (September 26, October 3 and 10) these nominees give a presentation to the jury via Teams, who then choose a winner who will be announced on November 17 at the Precision Fair.
Development of a Laser Launch Telescope for Adaptive Optics.
In this talk, focus shall be on so-called Laser Launch Telescope, a critical part of any astronomical AO system. LLTs create artificial stars that serve as reference objects for the AO system. TNO realized four of these systems for ESO’s Very Large Telescope and is currently working on similar systems for the Extremely Large Telescope.
The Mikroniek special for the precision fair will be published on October 28th. The Theme is about Design Principles. Reserve your spot in this magazine now.
3 day course October 2022 Optomechanical System design
The course focuses on the mechanical and mechatronic design for optical systems and is intended for mechanical, mechatronic and optical engineers involved in optomechanical system design.
The Wim van der Hoek Award is awarded to promote and stimulate precision mechanics and the design of mechanical structures. The award will be given to the best graduation work.
