Bij Electrochemical Machining (ECM) wordt het werkstuk gevromd door plaatselijke oplossingen in een elektrolyt, onder invloed van een elektrische stroom. De elektrode (het “gereedschap”) dient bij deze techniek zeer nauwkeurig gepositioneerd te worden. Daarnaast worden korte positioneertijden verlangd.
