The forthcoming April issue of Mikroniek, click here for a first impression, is in part dedicated to thermal issues. It features a report on the kick-off of the Advanced Thermal Control Consortium, a report of the euspen Special Interest Group meeting on the same topic and an article on the design of a sample rotation instrument for use in very high magnetic fields at cryogenic temperatures. The cover story describes the vibaration isolation systems that were used in the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory for detection of the phenomenom predicted by Albert Einstein 100 years ago. More smart optical systems in an article contributed by Carl Zeiss and in the report of a symposium in Delft.
