Knowledge Session 3D Printing in practice. What could be in it for me?

28 September 2017

We are guest of the Objexlab of Fontys in Eindhoven. Objexlab is the fully equipped 3D printlab.

It focuses on the latest developments in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing).

This technique offers many new possibilities in comparison with conventional (machining and not machining) production technology.

Most designers and constructors are trained from the traditional production technology, leaving these new possibilities often unexploited.

On this DSPE Knowledge day we will look at the typical characteristics and possibilities of 3D printing for machine construction and its influence on the design of machine parts. These include the design and realization of monolithic structures (including setting mechanisms), mass reduction (application of 'lattices') and hybrid production technology (combination of

conventional production technology with 3D printing).
